The state of Alabama requires that permit holders or their designees for Priority Category 3 and Category 4 food establishments possess a valid certification from an accredited program issued within the last five years. Alternatively, completion of an accredited program without certification within the past 12 months is also acceptable.

In Alabama, this certification expires every five years. To renew your certification, you are required to pass a re-certification exam.
