Cosmetology Continuing Education
Master Cosmetology, Manicurist, Esthetician, and Instructor licenses in Mississippi expire every two years. Master license holders are required to complete at least 8 hours of continuing education while instructors need 24 hours. The CE topics are set by the board and must comply with their requirements. If you've held a license issued by the Mississippi State Board of Cosmetology for at least 12 months, you can upgrade your license to a Master license by completing 16 hours of continuing education. In Mississippi, instructor and master cosmetologist licenses expire every 2 years from the date it was issued. To renew, masters must complete 8 hours of state approved continuing education while instructors must complete 24 hours. Check your license for the exact date it will expire.

Master Cosmetologist, Manicurist, and Esthetician Licenses
A Master Cosmetologist, Master Manicurist or Master Esthetician license may be issued to any individual who makes meets the following requirements:
- Has been licenses as a cosmetologist, manicurist or esthetician in Mississippi for at least 12 months
- Has proof of completion for 16 hours of board approved continuing education prior to the date of application
- Submit all fees along with the "Master Practitioner License Application" found on the Mississippi State Board of Cosmetology website
- After your master license is issued, it must be renewed every 2 years from the date it was issued. 8 hours of continuing education are required for renewal.
