Cosmetology Continuing Education
Individual cosmetology licenses in Iowa expire every two years. The renewal period for licenses starts April 1st and ends March 31st two years later. After you first receive your license, you are not required to complete CE during the first renewal period. For your second renewal and onward, you are required to complete at least 6 hours of continuing education to renew. The CE topics are set by the board and must comply with their requirements. How to I Renew my Iowa Cosmetology License?
In Iowa, you are required to complete 6 hours of state approved continuing education every 2 years in order to renew your license. Below you can find a table of all the hour requirements for those who hold multiple licenses.
