Journeyman/Master Plumber License
Journeyman Plumbers in Wisconsin are licensed to perform plumbing activities under the general supervision of a person who holds a license as a Master Plumber license, Master Plumber Restricted license, or Utility Contractor license. No person may engage in the business or offer to engage in the installing, repairing, or maintaining plumbing wiring unless the person holds a Plumbing Contractor license.

- Complete federal or state-approved Plumbing Apprenticeship
Master PlumberExam
All applicants must pass the Master Plumbing Exam (pre-approval is required)Experience/Education
- Obtain Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering or other approved engineering curriculum related to plumbing OR
- Obtain 1,000 hours as a licensed Wisconsin Journeyman Plumber per year for at least 3 years.
How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the Wisconsin DSPS at 608-266-2112 or visit Department of Safety and Professional Services.
The state requires continuing education prior to each renewal. Also, Wisconsin has no reciprocity agreements for this license type.
