Journeyman Plumbing License
This license allows you to perform plumbing work under a licensed master plumber in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This includes the construction, alteration or repair of the following components: Drainage, Cesspools, Traps, Waste Vents, Water Piping, and Fixtures attached to plumbing elements. This license does not allow you to operate a business.

Master Plumbing License
This license allows you to perform plumbing work under a licensed master plumber in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This includes the construction, alteration or repair of the following components: Drainage, Cesspools, Traps, Waste Vents, Water Piping, and Fixtures attached to plumbing elements.
What are the requirements to getting a license?
Journeyman License Requirements- Registered as an apprentice plumber in Philadelphia for a minimum of 4 years
- Proof of successful completion of the Journeyman Plumber Examination
- 2x2 color photo of the applicant
- Highs school diploma or GED
- At least 18 years of age
Master Plumber Requirements- At least 21 years of age
- At least 2 years experience as a Journeyman plumber
- High school diploma or GED
- Completed a state-approved apprenticeship program
- Passed the Master Plumbing License Exam
- Workers Compensation:
- $100,000 each accident
- $100,000 each employee
- $500,000 policy limit
Insurance Requirements (Master)- General Liability Insurance: $500,000 per occurrence
- Automobile Liability Insurance:$300,000
- Worker's Compensation:
- $100,000 per accident
- $100,000 per employee
- $500,000 policy limit
How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the Philadelphia Department of Licenses and Inspections at 215-686-8686 or visit their website. 8 hours of continuing education is required to renew each year.

How do I pass the exam?
The Philadelphia exams are open book. The references below are permitted to be tabbed, highlighted, and used during your test! Unfortunately, our online course is NOT permitted to be accessed during the State exam.
