North Dakota Journeyman/Master Plumbing License and Exam Prep
Journeyman & Master Plumbing Licensing & Exam Prep
Journeyman and Master Plumbing applicants must both pass an exam prior to obtaining a license. The Journeyman and Master Plumbing exams are 4 and 5 parts, respectively. Once licensed, 4 hours of continuing education is required every other even years, prior to license renewal for every odd year. All of our training is offered in an online self-paced format. Journeyman Plumber License
A Journeyman Plumber installs, alters, repairs and renovates plumbing in accordance with standards, rules and regulations established by the board and works under the supervision of a Master Plumber.

Master Plumber License
A licensed Master Plumber in North Dakota is able to to properly plan, lay out, install and repair plumbing apparatus and equipment and to supervise others in the performance of such work in accordance with standards, rules and regulations established by the State Board.
What are the requirements to getting a license?
Journeyman Plumber- Submit signed and completed application to the North Dakota State Plumbing Board
- Pass the Journeyman Plumbing exam
- Have 4 years experience as an Apprentice Plumber under a licensed Master Plumber.
Master Plumber- Be 21 years of age
- Submit signed and completed application to the North Dakota State Plumbing Board
- Pass the Journeyman Plumbing exam
- Have 2 years' (3,400 hours) experience as a Journeyman Plumber licensed by the state of North Dakota or any other state that has a state licensing law.
How do I obtain a license?

The state requires 4 hours of continuing education every other even year, prior to license renewal for every odd year. Also, North Dakota has limited reciprocity agreements with Minnesota, Montana, and South Dakota.

How do I pass the exam?
The North Dakota exams are partially open book. The permitted references below may be tabbed, highlighted, and used during your test! Unfortunately, our online course is NOT permitted to be accessed during the State exam.
