Electrical Code Enforcement / Inspector Continuing Education
South Carolina Code Enforcement Officers & Inspectors are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education every 2 years. Completion of these hours must be reported to the Building Codes Council from July 1st - June 30th every odd numbered year. 12 of your continuing education hours may be completed in an online, self-paced format. A maximum of 6 hours may be completed in a single day.

How do I renew my Code Enforcement / Inspector license in South Carolina?
To renew your license, 24 hours of continuing education must be completed every 2 years. Your continuing education hours must be reported between July 1st and June 30th every odd numbered year. No more than 6 hours of CE may be completed in a day. The state does not allow extra hours of CE to be carried over to the next renewal cycle.

Code Enforcement / Inspector (24 CE Hours)
During your first registration period, you may not need to complete all 24 hours of CE depending on how close to the renewal period (July 1st - June 30th of odd years) you obtained your license.
- Registration issued 1-4 months before the expiration - 0 hours
- Registration issued 4-8 months before the expiration - 4 hours
- Registration issued 8-12 months before the expiration - 8 hours
- Registration issued 12-16 months before the expiration - 12 hours
- Registration issued 16-20 months before the expiration - 16 hours
- Registration issued 20-24 months before the expiration - 20 hours
- For each subsequent registration, a minimum of 24 hours is required
