The Colorado State Plumbing Board requires all Residential, Journeyman, and Master Plumbers to complete 8 hours of approved Continuing Education (CE) every 12 months to renew a license. Note that this requirement does NOT apply to the first renewal or reinstatement of a license.

Requirements & Steps

How do I renew my Plumbing license in Colorado?

In Colorado, all Plumbing and Plumbing Contractor licenses expire on the last day of February of odd-numbered years. However, 8 hours of continuing education are required to be completed every 12 months.

What are the required topics and hours for my license?

Contractor Residential, Journeyman, and Master Plumbers (8 hours)
  • A minimum of eight (8) hours of CE must be completed every 12 months during the license cycle
  • The continuing education hours must be selected from among the Core Competencies in any combination, but note that:
    • within every twenty-four month period, a minimum of four (4) CE hours must be related to codes as defined in board's rules
    • Additionally, no more than two (2) hours will be accepted in CE courses related to safety training
