If you’re a licensed electrical contractor in the state of Florida, you may already be aware that your license is only valid for two years, after which time it will expire.

Licenses are set to expire on August 31 of each even year. In order to keep your license in good standing, you’ll need to prepare to renew it prior to its expiration.

In order to renew your license and keep your status up to date, you are required to complete 11 hours of continuing education courses. Your renewal must then be submitted to the state.

Continuing Education: What You Need

Florida electrical contractors who are registered and certified must complete specific training courses to qualify for license renewal. Although the state requires that you complete 11 hours of state-approved continuing education (CE), Miami Dade County requires an additional two hours of CE courses.

Electrical CE Course Requirements

There are various topics on which you will be required to take CE courses, some of which include:

  • Florida building codes
  • False alarm prevention
  • Workplace safety
  • Workers’ compensation
  • Florida electrical laws and rules
  • Florida electrical business practices
  • General credit for specialty contractors

Continuing education courses in these subjects are available online, but be aware that not every company that offers courses is approved by the state to do so. You must make sure that your courses are state approved in order to meet the requirements for renewal.

How to Renew Your Electrical License in Florida

Once you’ve completed a continuing education program, you will need proof of completion sent to the state licensing board. The best programs online will do this for you once you complete your CE course requirements.

Taking the required training courses online is convenient, user-friendly, and approved by the state. Select and purchase your continuing education courses and complete the training as required. It’s recommended that you choose an online program that makes content available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide flexibility and accommodate your schedule.

Most programs allow you to print a certificate of completion once you have finished the CE course. If you choose a program that does not notify the state of your completion for you, you will need to find out how to proceed with notification yourself.

Choosing a Florida Electrical CE Program for License Renewal

There are various programs online available to satisfy your CE requirements, but they aren’t all the same. Make sure you choose a program that has everything you need in one convenient bundle. The best programs offer benefits such as no-pass-no-pay policies, instructor support, lifetime access, and more.

RocketCert has state-approved electrical CE courses that offer all these benefits and more. We’ll even notify the state of your program completion for you. Our programs are available 24/7, and if you find a better price somewhere else, RocketCert will beat it by 20%.
