Auctioneer Continuing Education & License Renewal
Wisconsin auctioneer licenses must be renewed every even numbered year by December 14th. In order to renew, you must complete 12 hours of continuing education courses. All training must be approved by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.

In Wisconsin, auctioneer licenses expire biannually on December 14th of even years. To renew, you are required to complete 12 hours of continuing education. After that, you must submit your renewal to the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.

The goal of the following topics is to assist the licensee in fulfilling the board’s objective of protecting the public from the unprofessional or unethical practices of auctioneers in Wisconsin.

- Maintenance of Records & Trust Accounts
- Federal & Wisconsin Laws Relating to Auctioneering
- Real Estate Auctions - Practice & Legal Requirements
- Commercial Auctions - Practice & Legal Requirements
- Agricultural Auctions - Practice & Legal Requirements
- Internet Auctions
- Proxy Bids
Exemptions
Note: Licensees do not have to complete continuing education if initially registered less than 6 months before the first renewal.
Exemptions from the continuing education requirements:
- Licensees may take a 45 question test-out examination by submitting the Application for Auctioneer Continuing Education Test-Out Examination
- The test-out examination may be retaken one time
- Licensees unsuccessful after two tries must take the approved continuing education courses
- Applicants with a current Auctioneer license in Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, or Texas may request an exam exemption
