Auctioneer Continuing Education & License Renewal
Texas auctioneer licenses must be renewed annually based on first licensure date. In order to renew, you must complete 6 hours of continuing education courses. All training must be approved by the Texas State Board of Auctioneers.

How do I renew my auctioneer license in Texas?
In Texas, auctioneer licenses expire annually based on first licensure date. To renew, you are required to complete 6 hours of continuing education. After that, you must submit your renewal to the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation.

What are the required topics and hours for my license?
Hours & Topics
The goal of the following topics is to assist the licensee in fulfilling the department’s objective of protecting the public from the unprofessional or unethical practices of auctioneers in Texas.
- Continuing education must include 2 hours of Instruction in Laws and Rules that regulate conduct:
- Texas Occupations Code, Ch. 1802, Auctioneers
- Title 16, Texas Administrative Code, Ch. 67, Auctioneers Administrative Rules
- Other laws and rules that regulate the conduct of auctioneers
- Auction-related laws, such as the Uniform Commercial Code - Sales, Title 1, Ch. 2, Texas Business and Commerce Code §2.328 and the Deceptive Trade Practices-Consumer Protection Act, Ch. 17, Subch. E, Texas Business and Commerce Code.
- Business practices, such as insurance, auction ethics, contracts, maintenance of trust accounts, and marketing.
Exemptions
Note: Licensees may not receive continuing education credit for attending the same course more than once.
Exemptions from the continuing education requirements:
- Reciprocal licensees whose home state requires continuing education for renewal will be considered to have met the continuing education requirements of Texas
