Auctioneer Continuing Education & License Renewal
South Dakota auctioneer licenses must be renewed biannually by November 30th based on first licensure date. In order to renew, you must complete 24 hours of continuing education courses. All training must be approved by the South Dakota Real Estate Commission.

How do I renew my auctioneer license in South Dakota?
In South Dakota, auctioneer licenses expire biannually on November 30th based on first licensure date. To renew, you are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education. After that, you must submit your renewal to the South Dakota Real Estate Commission.

Hours & Topics
The goal of the following topics is to assist the licensee in fulfilling the board’s objective of protecting the public from the unprofessional or unethical practices of auctioneers in South Dakota.
- At least 12 hours are required in the following subject areas:
- Real Estate Contracts
- Real Estate License Law
- Fair Housing
- Ethics
- Environmental Issues
- Antitrust
- The Americans with Disabilities Act
- Brokerage Services
Exemptions
Note: Excess hours of continuing education may be carried over to the next renewal period.
Exemptions from the continuing education requirements:
- The South Dakota Real Estate Commission may make exceptions and grant extensions for continuing education for reasons of health, military service, or good cause if proof is provided to the commission office
