Auctioneer Continuing Education & License Renewal
Indiana auctioneer licenses must be renewed every fourth year by February 28th. In order to renew, you must complete 16 hours of continuing education courses. All training must be approved by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency.

How do I renew my auctioneer license in Indiana?
In Indiana, auctioneer licenses expire every fourth year on February 28th. To renew, you are required to complete 16 hours of continuing education. After that, you must submit your renewal to the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency.

What are the required topics and hours for my license?
Hours & Topics
The goal of the following topics is to assist the licensee in fulfilling the board’s objective of protecting the public from the unprofessional or unethical practices of auctioneers in Indiana.
- At least 6 hours of courses in any of the following core subjects:
- Indiana Rules and Statutes governing auctioneering
- Federal Statutes governing auctioneering
- Auctioneering Ethics
- Escrow and Trust Funds
- Contracts
- Any Other Subject Matter Approved by the Commission
- At least 10 hours of courses in any of the following elective subjects:
- Agency
- Business Courses related to auctioneering
- Auction Management
- Bid Calling
- Public Speaking
- Advertising
- Specialty Auction Topics
- Any Other Subject Matter Approved by the Commission
Exemptions
Note: When more than 6 hours of core subjects have been earned, the licensee may count the excess hours towards the 10 hours of elective subjects required.
Exemptions from the continuing education requirements:
- A licensee who is initially licensed in the fourth year of a renewal period or holds an "Inactive" license
- Service in the armed forces of the United States during a substantial part of the renewal period
- An incapacitating illness or injury
- Other circumstances determined by the Commission
